Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday April 29, 2021

Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday, April 29, 2021

Our guest speaker on April 29, 2021, was Medicare Insurance Specialist, Jake Whalen.  His presentation was entitled:

The A, B, C’s and D of Medicare

A fellow Rotarian from the Springlake Club, Mr. Jake  Whalen discussed how choosing the correct Medicare Plan depends on each individual's particular circumstances.  Choosing the wrong plan can be a costly mistake!

Mr. Whalen explained the difference between Part A - hospitalization, and Part B - physicians, and Part D - prescription drugs, and the costs related to each plan. Additional insurance is needed to pay for the "GAPS" in coverage for each of these respective plans.

Hence, the creation of MediGap. MediGap covers the charges that are not covered by Parts A,  B and D.  MediGap offers Plans A through N. An individual's health, age, and financial circumstances should dictate which of the MediGap Plans to elect.

Mr. Whalen also discussed another health care insurance option known as Medicare Advantage; these plans provide medical insurance coverage via private/third party providers. This type of coverage can include prescription drugs, eye glasses, dental needs, hearing aids, and health club memberships.

For more information on unraveling the mystery behind the various options and obligations involved in navigating the Medicare enrollment process, as well as when to enroll and/or when change coverage should your circumstances change, please contact Mr. Whalen at jake@seniormomentsmedicare.com or by calling 732-731-9385.
