Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday February 11, 2021

Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday, February 11, 2021

The ZOOM speaker for the February 11, 2021, meeting was Simeon Hein, PhD.  His presentation was entitled:

The Science and Wonder of Remote Viewing

Dr. Hein gave a brief introduction to the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing (RV): the ability to acquire accurate information about a distant or non-local place, person or event without using your physical senses or any other obvious means. It’s associated with the idea of clairvoyance, seemingly being able to spontaneously know something without actually knowing how you got the information. It is also sometimes called “anomalous cognition” or “second sight.” The difference between natural psychic receptivity and remote viewing is that the latter is a trained skill, a controlled process, that the average person can learn to do, to some degree or another.

Per Dr. Hein's presentation:
  • The US military and intelligence community had an ongoing RV program at the Standford Research Institute for 20 years, beginning in 1972, led by Russell Targ and Hal Puthoff. in response to the Soviets and China having similar psychic espionage programs.
  • Highly skilled remote viewers in the US program were awarded some of the highest military awards for accurately describing various targets via RV for the US government.
  • RV is always done under blind conditions, meaning that the remote viewer must know nothing about the target when conducting the remote-viewing session.
  • Remote viewing is normally considered a controlled shifting of awareness that is performed in the normal waking state of consciousness, and it does not typically involve an out-of-body experience, hypnosis, an altered state of consciousness, or channeling.
  • Anyone can learn RV, but it requires both training and regular practice in order for a remote viewer to become proficient.
  • Benefits of learning RV include better intuition, decision making, and mind-body awareness.
Dr. Hein offers a free RV “mini-class” on his website www.LearnRV.org.   He is conducting a formal, online beginning RV class in early March.

Dr. Hein is the author of three books, Opening MindsBlack Swan Ghosts, and Planetary Intelligence, all of which are available on Amazon.  His main website is SimeonHein.com.

* You Get What You Give *

Per Madame Past President Diane Vasile-Falcone’s recent email to our members, Rotarians “…are all about giving and Service Above Self … our efforts are much appreciated.”

Here’s proof positive of her sage words!

Nick Laganella spearheaded a partnership with Gift of Life America, Paramus Rotary, and the Paramus Rotary COVID Relief Fund to provide critical PPE and other resources to our Front Line Heros and First Responders.

When one of our Rotarians expressed concern around the lack of vaccine availability, Past President Jay Leone stepped up in true Rotary sprit and made a call to our friends at New Bridge Medical Center. The call resulted in wonderful news!

Eligible Paramus Rotarians were given the opportunity to register and receive COVID-19 vaccinations at New Bridge Medical Center. On February 10, 2021, 38 Rotarians received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. The second dose will be administered on March 10, 2021. 💖

Weekly Announcements!

Our guest speaker for the February 18, 2021 meeting will be fellow Rotarian from the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club (FLSunrise), John Cosgrove.  Mr. Cosgrove will discuss FLSunrise’s water project in Honduras.  His presentation is entitled:

Help Change Lives in Juticalpa, Roatan Island, Honduras by Providing Desperately Needed Clean Water

Located in the Municipality of Santos Guardiola, Roatan Island, Honduras, the tiny village of Juticalpa is 30 miles off the north coast of Honduras in the western Caribbean Sea.  The 750 residents mainly  work in the tourism, construction, and fishing industries. The average monthly income per family is only $370 USD.

What is the problem?

Only 40% of the community has access to an extremely limited amount of potable water. The remaining 60% of the community has no access to potable water at all.

What can Rotary do to help?

FLSunrise would like to build a new water well that will provide potable water to 100% of the homes in this community in a sustainable way.

Mr. Cosgrove recently completed five (5) terms as Mayor of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and three (3) terms as Deputy Mayor. He has recently been designated to serve as the District Governor of District 7490 for the years 2023-2024.  When asked about his goals, Mr. Cosgrove shared, “I’m looking forward to joining the District 7490 Leadership team. Over the next three years, I hope to grow our District’s membership and help to develop the next great generation of Rotarians.”

~ Our next board meeting will be held on February 16, 2021, via ZOOM beginning at 6:30 PM. ~
