Tabe to Table Fighting Hunger

Heather Thompson and Maria Sinopoli of Table to Table will discuss how the nonprofit is using FIFA World Cup-related festivals and watch parties to fight hunger and reduce food waste. Through its Kick Hunger Out of NJ Tour, Table to Table rescues nutritious surplus food from large events and quickly delivers it to local food pantries, shelters, and community organizations.

They will also share how Table to Table has evolved since its founding in 1999 and describe their vision for expanding its impact in the years ahead.

Heather Thompson is the Executive Director of Table to Table, a New Jersey nonprofit that bridges the gap between food waste and food insecurity by mobilizing refrigerated trucks and volunteers to rescue fresh surplus food – the equivalent of 25+ million meals annually - and deliver it directly to pantries, shelters, and other community agencies.

Prior to joining Table to Table in 2024, Heather served as Chief Development Officer for anti-poverty nonprofit Norwescap; she has also held leadership roles at nonprofit organizations Eva’s Village, Park Avenue Armory, and Citymeals-on-Wheels, and has provided pro-bono consulting support to multiple nonprofits in NY and NJ.

Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan and professional certificates in nonprofit leadership and finance from NYU and Cornell. She serves on the Board of the National Food Recovery Association, is Board Secretary for the Meadowlands YMCA, and is the Vice Chair of the Bergen County Food Security Advisory Board.
