Hello Rotarians,

We have a very exciting speaker coming on Thursday.  Grab a friend or co-worker to come meet Garith Roriston. He is a wildlife professional, conservationist, filmmaker and a UK Mixed Martial Arts pioneer.   Come meet him and listen to him talk about Private Safaris.  Can anyone say "Rotary Outing?!"
Rich Siniscalchi will be looking for volunteers to help at our Golf Outing on May 21.  Please start by recruiting golfers and hole sponsors.  Grab a few flyers before you leave the meeting.
Our next Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 15, 6:30 p.m. at Bacari Grill.  It is a dinner meeting ($35 Cash only)
We had 27 members out this past week.  Let's shoot for over 35 members for this week's meeting!!  Have a great day!

The Devil's Wind by Donald Cirulli
Don Cirulli, former Councilman for Paramus, 8 years Military experience and history buff took 15 years to nuture his first book.  His book is available on Amazon, Good Reads, Barnes & Noble, Nook, Kindle, EBay.  Softcover, hardcover and Ebooks are available.  The setting takes place in the 1850's in England, Russian and India.
Here is a little from Don's book cover...
"It is 1853. Jeremy Maitland, the son of tenant farmers in Essex, England, faces the loss of all that he knows and loves with the sudden death of his father. His only hope for advancement in life lies with the military. He is accepted into The Rifle Brigade, an elite unit of the British Army. In little more than a year, Jeremy is fighting alongside French and Turkish troops against Russian forces in the Crimea. At the end of the war, with no reason to return to England, he transfers to The King’s Royal Rifle Corps and his adventures take him to India just before the infamous Sepoy Mutiny. He is soon swept up in a devil’s wind of betrayal and vengeance. Events take Jeremy from a siege at Cawnpore and escape through swamps and jungle, to the massive assault by the British to capture the Imperial City of Delhi and its king . . . with the shock of a lifetime in his future.
While in India, Sergeant Jeremy Maitland falls in love with the pregnant wife of a British officer, he must kill one of his own men, he is privy to the shooting of a British officer, and he and a colleague uncover what they believe to be a fortune in precious stones. Powerful conflicts, a sympathetic protagonist, and a varied cast of interesting characters are set against exotic backgrounds and Victorian class distinctions.
The story of The Devil’s Wind is inspired by true events."
Happy Dollar Collection

At the request of President Diane, “Happy Dollars” collected from last week's meeting is going to be donated to a young lady who is a life long Paramus Resident and PHS graduate. Her name is Kristi Garino she is 20 years young and has recently been diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (Brain Tumor) Cancer. Typically this cancer shows it’s self during early childhood ages and while 20 is still young it is not a positive diagnosis for this cancer as it becomes more aggressive and difficult to cure as the patient ages.

The tumor has been removed and Kristi underwent a spinal tap to determine the strength of chemo treatments needed. She will began radiation on April 9th, which will consist of 30 treatments over the next 6 weeks. Then a one month break before she begins 9 rounds chemo. Future treatments will be determined after the results of the Spinal Tap become available.

Kristi is currently attending Stevens Institute of Technology and hopes to be a doctor herself one day.  Kristi’s classmates at Stevens started a Go Fund Me page, the link is below in support of their dear friend.

This is young lady is not just any 20 year old Paramus resident. She is the childhood sweetheart and girlfriend of Rich Sinischalchi’s grandson.

President Diane would like to donate directly to Kristi and her family to assist with the daunting medical costs.  As of last week, "Happy Dollars" collected was $982.

If you wish to make a donation, please remit a check to Paramus Rotary and on the footnote list Kristi Garino so Barry knows where to direct the proceeds.

I want to Thank You all in advance for any donation you can make to help Kristi and the Garino Family.  You continue to live the life of a true Rotarian by your continued support for “Service Above Self”.
