Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday, November 12, 2020 It was great to finally make it back home to Season's Catering for our weekly meeting! Ed Lang's Happy Dollars quote could not have said it better: "Hey, it's good to be back home again." Immediate Past President Fred Rohdieck presented a President's Award Plaque to Nick Laganella in recognition of his outstanding example of service above self during Immediate Past President Fred's term of office. The Dictionary Project issued a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the Rotary Club of Paramus' $864.00 donation to the project during these trying times. Cumulatively, the Dictionary Project has reached an estimated 33,468,545 third graders. Of that number, 10,512 were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Paramus. Past District Governor Emil Geering made a presentation via ZOOM on the topic of the Rotary Foundation, in keeping with Rotary International's theme for the month of November. Our club was the largest single donor in the district for the Polio Plus program, contributing over $15,000. PDG Emil discussed the rewards and recognition program for our district's clubs. Our club has two award winners. Jim Magnum received his Paul Harris sapphire pin at a Rotary luncheon this past summer. Dan Holder contributed $1,000 in honor of his friendship with Rich Siniscalchi, who received a Paul Harris pin as well. PDG Emil informed us that the the Foundation sent $56,000 in donations to Rotary International. In three years, our district will recoup $28,000 from that amount to support any of our causes. This year, we will receive approximately $18,000 - $19,000 for our projects from Rotary International. In closing, PDG Emil also announced our new project for the Foundation: Human Trafficking. ************ Weekly Announcements! The speaker for today's meeting is Ms. Bolor-Erden Tumurchudur.
