Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday April 26, 2018 A Breath of Fresh Air for Our Children Our speaker on Thursday, April 26, was Susan Golden, a Climate Reality Leader trained by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project. Ms. Golden is currently the chairperson of the Paramus Environmental Commission, as well as a volunteer with the Hackensack Riverkeeper organization. She discussed the causes of and the methods to mitigate the effects of global warming and how it impacts on all our lives.
Ms. Golden used many historical climate data to show how our climate has changed over the years and how it could harm our environment and affect our survival if we do not change the way we treat our earth. She also showed the progress being made around the world to reduce carbon emission. China currently has the largest solar energy production and the U.S. needs to catch up with renewable energy.
The international effort to cut down pollution has helped slow down the speed of global warming and hopefully we will soon reach a healthy condition where we can leave our future generation with fresh clean air to breathe.
For more information, please contact Susan Golden at Paramus Environmental Commission at the Paramus Borough Hall.
