Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday April 1, 2021

Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday, April 1, 2021

Our guest speaker for April 1, 2021, was Feng Shui architect RD Chin. His presentation was entitled,
"How Feng Shui Can Help Cure You of Your Covid Funk"

RD Chin briefly introduced the concept of Feng Shui and offered practical and simple tips to change and refresh the energy in one’s home or office during this unprecedented time. Per Mr. Chin, Feng Shui is the language of space. It is a gift and a blessing.  His presentation offered recommendations to help change spaces into more peaceful and harmonious environments that will in turn reduce one’s stress and anxiety.

Simply moving a piece of furniture, repositioning a picture on a wall, or bringing in an object will alter the energy of a space and create new and beneficial associations in the mind of the occupant.

Placement is key, so be sure to consult with a Feng Shui practitioner or refer to Mr. Chin's book, Feng Shui Revealed, to ensure that any changes made will make a positive impact. Simple changes include:

  • Reflect energy with mirrors.
  • Relocate desks perpendicular to the window.
  • Use symbols meaningful to one’s background, such as a cornucopia to represent plenty or a laurel wreath to represent victory.
  • Use task-specific lighting such as desk lamps, standing floor or ceiling lights, or decorative bulbs to symbolically bring sunlight into the area.

The use of color, which is typically culture specific, can also have positive associations and emotional impact.  General meanings of colors are:

  • Red = luck.  Mr. Chin loves to use the paint Million Dollar Red by Benjamin Moore
  • Gold = self, health, power, and wealth
  • Green = exuberant growth, future prosperity, health, and tranquility
  • Brown = stability and depth
  • Pink = love, joy, happiness, and romance
  • Blue = spirituality and depth of understanding

Other easily accessible tools in the Feng Shui toolbox include:

  • Sound can convey its message even when we are asleep. Comforting nature sounds promote relaxation and composure.
  • Scent can evoke positive personal recollections and memories.
  • Touch (including Sight) communicates powerfully, silently, and subconsciously how our physical selves feels about our psychological selves.
  • Flowers convey prosperity and regard for others.
  • Crystals signify stability.

The Five Elements of traditional Chinese philosophy offer a symbolic framework that can be useful to “balance the elements” in a room. Again, placement is key to properly harness the energies associated with these elements for a beneficial change in a room's energy!

  • Fire Fire Emoji Vector at Vectorified.com | Collection of Fire ...  = maximum energy/success
  • Wood Wood Emoji= growth and expansion in all areas
  • EarthEarth Globe Europe Africa - Emoji Postcard | Zazzle.com = nourisher of all things
  • Metal Sword Emoji / Two swords with steel blades in an x shape ... = completeness and fulfillment
  • Water  Download Sweat Water Emoji | Emoji Island = maximum introspection and the resolution of all things

RD Chin is a trained architect, Feng Shui Master, and certified interior designer who teaches and consults on the use of space to advance mental and physical health and overall well-being. The author of Feng Shui Revealed, Mr. Chin was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January, 2017. He has since been incorporating life lessons in expressing gratitude and appreciation, in staying connected to his passions, and in the supportive power of words — along with his knowledge of Feng Shui and his studies and personal experience of food as medicine — to enhance not only his life condition, but that of others.

To purchase Mr. Chin’s book, Feng Shui Revealed, and to learn more about how Feng Shui can handle design problems such as overhead beams, slanted ceilings, long corridors, sharp corners and “bad” placement of furniture, rooms, windows and doors, please email RD Chin at rdchin@mac.com, visit his website at www.RDChin.com; or speak with Mr. Chin directly at (917) 669-8099.

In 1973, Lee wrote “The Pimp and His Game,” the basis of her trainings of thousands of members of law enforcement and her expert testimony in state and federal courts since the 80’s.

Children of the Night is the first established and only comprehensive sex trafficking program in the world devoted to the development of specialized programs and education for prostituted children and young people who need critical intervention to become successful adults.
