Paramus Rotary Club Meeting of Thursday, September 21, 2017 This week we had a presentation by Russ Van Ness who is the owner and founder of Gifted Fitness. He was introduced by our Vice President Fred Rohdieck. Russ has been teaching individuals with special needs for 10 years and recently resigned to start his own business called Gifted Fitness. His mission is to provide training and exercise programs to those with special needs and their families. One of his clients (Michael) speaks through a computer and they both talked to us about how everyone has obstacles and everyone experiences challenges. Special needs or not, you can overcome anything with the right attitude and mentality. Russel has been teaching for years and he wanted to create a space to be able to welcome children with special needs and their families to exercise. He has been able to accomplish this over the past year in his location in Ramsey. He is able to give the give of health and exercise to many individuals that would otherwise have not been given that chance. He stated, and Michael agreed, that this type of atmosphere makes everyone feel included and pushes everyone hard to workout harder. This type of exercising has many positive effects for everyone involved, but it is not something covered by insurance. This is something that is paid out of pocket by the clients. It has given positive outcomes, however, and even has cut down therapy visits. This shows that there is a positive outcome to all of this. Gifted Fitness is always looking for help because specialized equipment is in need and is also expensive. Russel can be seen here with a few of his clients working hard to get fit! REMEMBER you can get through anything with a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
