Grassroots Protection of NJ Highlands

Ms. Somers will discuss the importance of citizen attention and the role of grassroots groups in protecting the Highlands. Areas of concern include the explosion of warehouse development in the state, driven by logistics and the Port of Newark being the second largest/busiest in the country. Citizen involvement has been spotty, but successful in some places. The only way out of the Port, apart from a small rail line, is by road/truck.  Ms. Somers will share the Coalition's have a wonderful range of experiences, and some great wins, too.   Informed citizen participation is key.
