Bergen Community College was founded in 1965 to satisfy the region’s need for a convenient, affordable and comprehensive higher education destination, Bergen Community College now enrolls nearly 17,000 students in its academic degree programs. The College’s three sites in Paramus (main campus), Hackensack (Ciarco Learning Center) and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands) serve more than 32,000 students in degree, continuing education and adult education programs.

Paramus Named One of the Best Communities for Music Education & a Model School in the Arts

The  Paramus school district has been recognized to be among the Best Communities in the nation for music education.  The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum.  Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.


Paramus High School has been designation a Model School in the Arts.The definition of a model  is a school that scored in the top 10% of the New Jersey Arts Education Census Project and a school that is teaching all four arts disciplines: dance, music, theatre and the visual arts. Having been designated a Model School PHS will have representatives from other schools to visit them and observe them and will make presentations at state meetings and conferences

Most recently Paramus Public Schools will be featured on "Classroom Close Up, NJ"

Classroom Close-up NJ is a half-hour television program that features innovative projects in New Jersey public schools. The 14-time Emmy® award-winning show is in its 23rd season and airs on NJTV every Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show is the only television program in the country devoted to featuring the positive things happening in public schools.

Holiday Music


Members of the Paramus High School Honors Chior will entertain our members and help us all get into the holiday spirit.

On Thursday December 21st the full concert chior (of over 100 members) will be performing at the Paramus High School Holiday Concert - 7pm at PHS. Additionally the PHS Concert Band and Orchestra will also perform that evening.

For the 13th year in a row Paramus has been voted one of the best communities for music education.

Paramus High School has an outstanding Music and Arts program. Included among the arts program is an outstanding dance program. At today's meeting we will be entertained by PHS dancers with a short dance program.

Children's Aid and Family Services

Their work includes adoption and adoption support servicestherapeutic foster care for vulnerable children, child care and early education, drug and alcohol abuse education and prevention, eldercare, and strengthening the community through educational programs and workshops. Each of these services makes a profound and lasting difference in people’s lives.

While placing children for adoption is still one of their core commitments, they have evolved to keep pace with a changing world. The needs of the children they treat have changed dramatically during the last several years. Today, they come having suffered from more severe physical and emotional abuse and neglect, and having had less basic care from their families. Many of the children have serious behavioral and mental health issues, as well as social and learning challenges. As a result, they need more specialized treatment while living in the agency’s therapeutic or family foster homes to help them start to heal. The agency’s goal is to help them move on to a loving adoptive family, or live independently with a job and a home to call their own.

Her life after receiving life saving operation from Rotary Gift of Life Program

Weronika Kaczmarek came to America in 1990 for her surgery.

Weronika will be speaking at the Annual Gift of Life Valentine Dinner at the Venetian on Feb 8th. 

She currently resides Warsaw Poland and teaches in Lubin Poland.

We invited her and her husband to be guests at our club's meeting on February 1st.

Weronika and her husband will be accompanied by George Kuzma who is President of Ukrranian Gift of Life 

I am sure ALL of out club's member will want to hear from please make sure YOU are in attendance.

The sailor that was kissing the nurse after VE day in 1945

Emily and Jim were at a Rotary meeting in Plantation, Florida. 


The guest speaker was the sailor that was kissing the nurse after VE day in 1945 and is part of that very famous photo and statue that is in Sarasota and San Diego.


They will tell his story and they also have a signed photo from him.

Wells Mountain Initiative

Tom's Foundation has visited our club many times  regarding the Wells Mountain Initiative and enjoyed past support from the Paramus Rotary Club.

The Wells Mountain Initiative has a WMI Scholar working in the United States this year. Hi name is Brian Juma from Kenya. 

Both Tom and Brian will be speaking as they both have a great story to share,
