We enjoyed a wonderful presentation from our very own Rotarians, Len La Pinto and Donna Perkowsky, which is very appropriate since it is national Library week, also the anniversary of the Midland Branch. They Spoke about all the good things going on at the main branch of our Library as well. We saw amazing pictures of this little library, originally built as a one room schoolhouse in 1876 through the 1900's. It went from a schoolhouse, grades 1-8 to the towns Borough Hall and the Police station, before becoming what it is today our first Library. 

 

 

                                                                                            

 

   Our fellow Rotarian Kevin Shanman is dabbling in a little comedy.  Several Rotarians sat in the audience at Tommy Foxes in Bergenfield to support him. Kevin had taken a comedy class for a few weeks.  His graduation & final "exam" was to perform in front of a crowd. "He made us proud". According to our fellow Rotarians that attended, Kevin was the best out of the other 5 graduates. We are very impressed Kevin!   

 

 

 

                                                                                                      

 

  The district 7490 is chairing a wonderful cause. Rotarians Combating Human Trafficking & Slavery (R.C.H.T.A.S.) has asked us to donate to this wonderful cause. Pictured above is Chairperson Keely Respass, and our very own, Past president Jean Jadevaia, who is on the committee, and in the middle is Kate-Lee, Executive Director of the N.J. Coalition against Human Trafficking.  
    We will be having them as a guest speaker in the upcoming 2026-27 year.

   PHS seniors will be entering a contest to design a magnet. The purpose of this magnet is to attract kids to notice them in bathrooms, shopping centers, gyms, grocery stores, anywhere and everywhere a child or adult can read it.  The magnets are a way to warn kids about Human Trafficking. Getting the word out is essential to help children become aware of their surroundings.  Students must come up with a concept that will catch the eye of children and parents. This amazing idea can save a child’s life. The wining senior will receive a $3000.00 scholarship to college.    We welcomed Author Judith Turner, and her editor Elizabeth Murray.  Judith will be speaking to us about her book. You are never alone- Hugs from heaven. This book is a journal of love and insight.  It is composed of compelling and inspirational true stories of hope, love peace, suffering, healing, and joy. Told through experiences with guardian angels, she does a wonderful job of decoding hundreds of stories into messages that help us relate, and find peace, and understanding the energy we all receive from heaven.
