On Saturday September 10, 2017 the Paramus Rotary Club held a Food Drive to benefit the Rotary Military Family Assistance Center and the Paramus Veterans Food Bank.
The Food Drive was held at the Paramus Shop-Rite Route 4.
Thank you to the Paramus Rotary Club Food Drive Chairperson Lois Horowitz as well as her team of Joe Lupo, Lydia Krevit, Glenda Campeniolo, Peter Kantzilieriks, Serge Dumay, Kris Rangachari, Klas Haglid, Doris Spano, and Sam Stone who gave up of their day to volunteer work shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Though their efforts and the generosity of so many Shop-Rite patrons it took 4 trucks to carry all of the donated items.
As shopper were entering the Shop-Rite they were handed a list of needed food products and other needed supplies that would benefit individuals and families who are in immediate need of these items. Cash contribution were welcomed and were used to buy additional foods needed to restock the food bank's shelves.
An important part of Rotary is the motto "Service Above Self". What that means is that we put others needs before ours.
The Paramus Rotary Club is the largest in Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson Counties and we welcome businessmen and women as well as retirees and (through our Interact and React Clubs in Middle and High School) young people that want to contribute to our community, our state, and our world.
We welcome interested parties to join us and become active as a Rotarian and see Rotary Boots On the Ground in action helping the community.
That is want was in evidence at this Food Drive.
Several tons of food were collected -  well over 20 full food carts!
